MP Government to Grant Free Property Ownership Rights to 48 Lakh Rural Families Under Swamitva Yojana

The Mohan Cabinet is preparing to grant free property ownership rights to approximately 44 to 48 lakh families living on residential land in rural areas of Madhya Pradesh under the Swamitva Yojana. These families will receive official property ownership documents and registration free of cost. The entire financial burden of the scheme will be borne by the state government.

Key Highlights of the Scheme

1. Free Property Registration

Families residing on residential land in rural areas will receive property ownership documents (Property Cards), and no registration fee will be charged.

2. State Government to Bear the Cost

The Madhya Pradesh Government will bear the entire estimated cost of approximately ₹3,000 crore required for implementing the scheme.

3. Priority to Women

Following the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the government will make efforts to register these properties in the names of women or female family members, thereby strengthening women’s property rights.

4. Final Approval Pending

A special cabinet meeting has been scheduled at the Bhopal Secretariat to give final approval to the proposal.

1. Easier Access to Bank Loans

Once ownership rights and property registration are granted, people will be able to use their property as collateral and obtain loans more easily from banks and financial institutions.

2. Better Access to Government Services

Property ownership documents will make it easier for beneficiaries to obtain essential services such as electricity connections, water connections, and other government welfare benefits.

3. New Employment and Business Opportunities

With easier access to bank loans, rural residents will be able to start new businesses, small industries, and self-employment ventures.

4. Resolution of Land Disputes

Accurate mapping through drone surveys and the issuance of official property documents will help eliminate land ownership disputes and provide legal clarity regarding property boundaries.

The initiative is expected to significantly improve property rights, financial inclusion, and economic opportunities for millions of rural families across Madhya Pradesh.
