The United States has imposed sanctions on 10 individuals and entities allegedly involved in Iran’s military procurement network, including a Pakistani businessman and companies linked to him.
According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the designated individuals and entities were involved in the procurement of weapons and military equipment for Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL).
The sanctions target individuals and organizations connected to several countries, including Pakistan, Iran, China, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. The U.S. Treasury said the action was taken under Executive Order 13382, which targets weapons of mass destruction proliferators and their supporters.
Under the sanctions, property and interests in property of the designated persons that are in the United States or under the control of U.S. persons are blocked. U.S. persons are also generally prohibited from conducting transactions with designated individuals and entities.
